The twelfth AUTTALK event was held at the central auditorium of Amirkabir University of Technology, organized by the Office of Scientific Associations in collaboration with the Engineering Faculty Scientific Association.

According to the public relations office of Amirkabir University of Technology, Engineer Reza Hamidi, a graduate of the Textile Engineering Faculty at Amirkabir University of Technology and the founder of a leather company in Mashhad, emphasized the necessity of establishing an Iranian textile industry bank during the session. He stated that the overall needs of the country in the field of textile production, the various disciplines within this industry, the amount of smuggled and non-smuggled imported products across official and unofficial borders, and the determination of the actual shortages and surpluses of production are all information that should be uploaded to this bank.
Hamidi pointed out that there are shortages in some areas and that in some cases, textile production is less than the demand. He also mentioned that there is a surplus in certain areas, such as machine-made carpets.
Regarding the role of universities in the development of this industry, Hamidi reminded that universities should create an environment that motivates investors to move towards further development of the textile industry. He also mentioned that while this is not a direct responsibility of the university, since most organizations in the country do not execute the tasks they are supposed to, the Textile Association can take on this responsibility, even if it requires a larger budget.
A graduate of Amirkabir University of Technology emphasized: "For expanding exports, the Textile Association can send good proposals to the authorities. In addition, conducting periodic surveys of the country's textile industry regarding the quantity and quality of production is also very important."
The founder of the Leather Institute in Mashhad considered the mission of the university to be the training of specialized workforce for the textile industry and said: "But how confident are we that these specialized workforce are being utilized in accordance with the needs?"
He considered holding refresher courses for graduates to be essential and continued: "Refresher courses are held every 3 to 4 months in various fields, and there is also a need for holding these refresher courses in the textile industry."
The graduate of Amirkabir University of Technology added: "Attention to education based on innovations and technologies, and a greater focus on increasing productivity, are other needs of this industry. Working more is not about increasing productivity, but working correctly is. Let's work more efficiently."
The founder of the Leather Company in Mashhad emphasized special attention to waste and said: "In the world, the use of waste is a science. It should be clear why waste is generated, to what extent we are allowed to produce waste, and what their standards are. Graduates should know how much cotton and how much thread is produced, and universities should help in formulating these standards. Graduates should also be able to use these standards."
A graduate of Amirkabir University of Technology, referring to the planning for waste utilization in the textile industry, said: "Recently, in England, a group has started a new movement in the production of new products from waste. This initiative means that instead of using new wool, cotton, or linen, discarded waste is used with special knowledge."
Referring to the efforts made to expand the last link in the industry, namely the textile industry, he noted: "In the past, the university was alien to the textile industry, but later good measures were taken to develop this industry, and as these measures develop, other areas also develop."
The graduate of Amirkabir University of Technology referred to the progress in dyeing, weaving, and fabric production as a result of the advancement of the textile industry and reminded: "Most advanced countries in the world started with the textile industry, such as England, Germany, Spain, and Japan."
The CEO of the Leather Company in Mashhad added: "As these countries progressed, they handed over this industry to other countries and moved towards the development of more specialized and knowledge-based industries themselves."
According to him, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are rich in oil, but these two countries are establishing the largest solar facilities because one barrel of oil generates less than $80 in revenue, while solar energy generates $280 in revenue. Therefore, the development of this technology is necessary for the country. In addition, the European Parliament has announced that by 2030, about 60% of Europe's energy will be produced from clean sources.
Referring to the solar radiation situation in Iran, Hamidi pointed out: According to experts, more solar energy can be produced in Iran.
He emphasized: I am strongly committed to social responsibilities and believe that every Iranian should try to take on part of these responsibilities to the best of their ability.
He mentioned the disability statistics in Mashhad and said: "For this reason, we collaborated with two institutions with about 900 disabled individuals and launched the first high school for the disabled." He referred to cancer as one of the challenges in this city and stated: "We are a group of 40 benefactors who have entered this field."
He mentioned the launch of a technical and vocational high school in the most deprived area of Mashhad as another one of his initiatives and said: "We were informed that this area has been affected by poverty and corruption, and we launched this educational center for girls in this area."
Hamidi considered the signing of the largest towel export contract to Iraq as another one of his actions and mentioned: "Soon we will celebrate the 100th export container to Iraq."
Addressing the students as a graduate of Amirkabir University of Technology, he stated: "I have several recommendations for you. Believe in your abilities. Even if you want to go abroad, don't lose hope. Also, do not attribute the mistakes of the officials to Iran. If an official makes a mistake, do not say that Iran is not a good place."
He emphasized the importance of quality in performing any task, attention to productivity growth, focus on saving, and the significance of seeking advice from knowledgeable individuals as other recommendations to the students. He added: "It is not enough to imagine what the university should do to make students more useful individuals, but what the student should do to emerge as a capable individual from this path. A professor can teach a student to become capable, but the student cannot be passive."
He stressed that students should define standards for the work they do, and also, students in the textile engineering field need to have a wrench in hand as a textile engineer, but some technical knowledge of machines and systems is useful because it is effective for managing the factory properly.
Referring to some perceptions about the backwardness of Bangladesh, he pointed out: "Today, this country has become the world's leading exporter of textiles."
